Time

Where does the time go? Depends. If you're scrolling on a phone, it simply dies. If you are writing, it soars. There is a different feeling when I look at my phone to catch the time. I feel almost obligated to check that notification, or read the email I haven't read yet. But when I look at an analog clock - a clock clock - I feel different. I know that I’ll be closing in thirty minutes, so I should finish off my writing for the day. Or I may step out of the shower and see that my potatoes only have another fifteen minutes. It all feels different.

I keep an analog clock at the studio. My phone is to take calls, read emails, check accounts etc. But it is not designed to infiltrate my precious time-keeping; and time-keeping should be precious. Analog clocks give you a clear indication of time well spent; whether that be reading, writing, cooking, or simply being.

Clock-watching is now actually a wonderful, meditative moment and, ironically, watching time pass puts me into a beautiful moment of now.
