Hogweed

There is a scent of hogweed and elder-flower; moss and damp-air; pre-rain and post-rain. It all takes me back to a now that never leaves me. It is a homecoming to a place that I never left, but also a place that is not fixed. The same with amber light at dusk and the palette of autumn on a damp and shiny street. There is a guarantee of comfort and respite, as these experiences turn up my pilot light; a light that never goes out.

On the one hand we are not allowed to experience the hush that reveals this luxury; on the other hand we do not allow ourselves to be silent enough to enjoy these hidden mysteries. This is the true occult; a hidden message that is in plain sight if we stop, look and listen. This Green Cross highway code from my childhood taught us all to cross the street safely.

Now it could be used to awaken our deeper senses for that higher quality of life that awaits us.
