"What is this strange land?"

There once was a land that was populated by villages and townships that had local chieftains and simple bartering as a way to exchange goods and services. This was a time before the land-Lords, who came from overseas and set up their castles and forced the locals to work for them. It was a simple time, before the coming of the monsters such as, “Social Media Ninja”, “SEO Specialist”, and the horrors of “Internet Marketing Guru”.

They cast their strange spells that made popups appear in the villages, forcing the locals to reveal their names and addresses; they took handcrafted products and stored them in their great barns to make their own inventory appear bigger, and then they gave you a list of things that they required from you before you could sell your own crafts and produce.

But the villagers had their cunning men and women; hedgewitches of old, that could counteract the land-Lord's spells and curses by simply ignoring them. These cunning folk retained an old tradition of story telling, away from the others. They would whisper through the hedges to each other and share knowledge without the need for the land-Lords.

To this day, these whisperings are kept alive on ancient parchments called,

The Blogroll.

This is an Actual Website

This is such a refreshing part of the internet. An inspiring and relaxing place to visit away from the noise of, what was once, an exciting internet highway. For me, visiting this website is how I feel, after I have spent all day in the mall Gallery, going mad from loud music, screaming families and the eternal question, "Can you tell me where the toilets are?", and I then step out into the cool night air and can finally take out my ear plugs.

Humans.txt

Lovely, lovely, lovely idea. Did I say it was a lovely idea?

The following links are places on the internet that should be visited. They offer something that seems to be rare; or perhaps it is a nostalgia for the old web. I don't know, but following their trails will make you realise that you are not alone in wanting a different web experience. They are good places and they have helped and inspired me. They are here so that I don't forget about them.

I may do a post on them at some point, but for now, do pay them a visit.
